Your camping trip is bound to come to an end and you want to ensure that you are breaking camp properly. When it comes to packing up and heading home you will want to consider a few tips before you go.
First of all stow your gear and use a whisk broom or rag to wipe it down as you go. Try to pack it as you had it the first time so that you don’t run out of space in your bags or vehicle. It is also a good idea to keep your dirty clothes separate so that you can easily do laundry once you get home.
Next, check your cooler and dispose of any wasted food. Empty out excess water and replenish the ice if you need to keep things cold as you head home.
Dowse your fire
Dowse your fire with water and make sure that it is completely out before you leave. Remember, if there’s smoke, there’s fire. Use the excess water from your cooler or another source to put the campfire out.
Gather all of your trash and do your best to leave no trace of you being there. Do a final walk around your vehicle and campsite to see if you missed anything and then head for home.
Breaking camp is hard because it means your camping trip is winding down and coming to an end. Don’t let it get you down because you are breaking camp, you will probably be coming back soon.
